Job Description:
We are seeking a highly disciplined and detail-oriented Payable Accountant to manage the full lifecycle of our accounts payable process. In this critical role, you will ensure that all vendor payments are processed with speed, accuracy, and transparency verifying that the company pays only for goods and services that have been officially ordered and received.

Requirements:
Invoice Management & Posting
Real-Time Processing: Book all vendor invoices on a real-time basis to ensure an up-to-date ledger.
Daily Posting: Ensure all daily payments are posted the same day, with payment vouchers ready for supervisor review by 10:00 AM the following morning.
Creditor Management: Execute payments to vendors within agreed-upon credit terms to maintain healthy supplier relationships.
Banking, Payroll & International Trade
Bank Reconciliations: Prepare comprehensive monthly bank reconciliation statements for all corporate accounts.
International Trade: Process Letters of Credit (LCs) for overseas suppliers and confirm receipt before expected delivery dates. Maintain a detailed schedule for all foreign vendors.
Payroll Accuracy: Cross-check payroll bank schedules for precision and prepare necessary bank debit instructions.
Tax & Regulatory Compliance
Statutory Filings: Prepare and present monthly Pension and PAYE schedules for payment by the 10th of every month.
Customs & Duties: Immediately process custom assessment payments upon approval and provide receipts to the Admin department within the same day.
Tax Documentation: Promptly obtain tax receipts and credit notes for vendors to ensure full compliance with Nigerian tax laws.
Reporting & Audit Support
Financial Closing: Ensure all monthly accruals and provisions are made before management accounts are finalized.
Weekly Reporting: Submit an outstanding payments schedule to the Head of Department (HOD) every Monday by 12:00 noon.
Audit Readiness: Prepare necessary schedules for external auditors and respond to Internal Audit (IAC) queries within 12 hours.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: BSc or HND in Accounting or a relevant Social Science course.
Experience: Minimum of 6 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting.
Certifications: Professional certification (ACA, ACCA) or an MBA is a significant advantage.
Technical Skills:
Advanced proficiency in accounting software and data management.
Strong knowledge of banking operations, including Letters of Credit and electronic transfers.
Deep understanding of PAYE, Pension, and VAT regulations.
Core Competencies:
Organizational Excellence: Ability to manage high volumes of vouchers and strict daily/monthly deadlines.
Attention to Detail: Precision in cross-checking payroll and custom assessments.
Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for liaising with vendors, banks, and internal departments.
Integrity: Adherence to Information Security Policies (ISP), including clear desk and screen lock protocols.
