Job Description:
Are you passionate about preserving and promoting the Igbo heritage? We are seeking a fluent, Lagos-based Igbo Language Tutor to join our global faculty. In this role, you will use our structured conversational method to teach learners across the world via Zoom. Beyond live instruction, you will contribute to our digital library by recording audiobooks and supporting fellow tutors.
Requirements:
1. Conversational Instruction & Tutoring
Digital Classroom Delivery: Lead engaging, high-energy Igbo lessons via Zoom every Saturday evening, focusing on spoken fluency and listening comprehension.
Shadow Tutoring: Act as a "Shadow Tutor" on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, supporting lead instructors and ensuring a seamless learning experience for all students.
Linguistic Immersion: Follow our proprietary in-house method to help learners transition from basic understanding to confident conversational Igbo.
2. Content Creation & Digital Assets
Audiobook Production: Prepare and record high-quality audio content for our Igbo Audiobooks, ensuring perfect tonality and pronunciation.
Lesson Preparation: Curate teaching materials that align with our conversational curriculum for upcoming Zoom sessions.
Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the LIBC team to refine teaching modules based on student feedback and progress.
3. Technical & Professional Governance
Connectivity Excellence: Maintain a non-negotiable, high-speed internet connection to ensure zero latency during international Zoom calls.
Professional Communication: Maintain clear, prompt, and professional correspondence with students and the internal LIBC team.
Time Management: Adhere strictly to the required teaching window (5:00 PM – 9:00 PM) across designated days.
Qualifications and Skills:
Linguistic & Academic Standards
SSCE Excellence: A minimum grade of A1 in Igbo Language (WAEC) is compulsory.
Fluency: Absolute mastery of both spoken and written Igbo and English.
Lagos Residency: Must currently reside in Lagos, Nigeria.
Technical & Professional Skills
Zoom Mastery: Essential experience in managing Zoom features (screen sharing, breakout rooms, etc.).
Hardware: Access to a quiet workspace and reliable high-speed internet.
Passion over Pedagogy: While a teaching degree is not required, a deep commitment to student success and language promotion is vital.
