Job Description:
We are seeking a diligent and risk-conscious Operations Officer to ensure the smooth, secure, and efficient running of our microfinance branch in Dawakin Kudu. You will serve as a vital support to the Head of Finance & Operations, maintaining tight internal controls, processing transactions with high precision, and proactively identifying operational risks. This is an ideal role for an experienced MFB professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to operational excellence.
Requirements:
Transaction & Cash Management: Oversee the daily processing of deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and loan disbursements while ensuring vault security and precise cash handling.
Risk & Internal Controls: Maintain a strong control environment by enforcing policies, identifying potential fraud or error risks, and recommending corrective actions to keep the branch compliant.
Financial Reporting & Reconciliation: Perform daily and monthly account reconciliations and assist in preparing accurate operational reports and regulatory returns.
Loan Operations Support: Facilitate the loan lifecycle, including document verification, ensuring credit files are compliant, and monitoring repayment schedules to minimize overdue accounts.
Regulatory Compliance: Support the Head of Finance & Operations in ensuring the branch adheres to CBN and NDIC standards, including maintaining robust audit trails.
Operational Improvement: Identify process bottlenecks, contribute to the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and ensure efficient use of core banking software.
Customer Support: Provide professional resolution to transaction inquiries, ensuring a seamless experience for all clients.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional experience strictly within a Microfinance Bank (MFB).
Technical Expertise: Demonstrated knowledge of MFB core banking systems, MS Excel, and regulatory reporting (CBN/NDIC).
Risk Acumen: Proven background in internal controls, fraud prevention, and operational risk management.
Soft Skills: Excellent analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and clear communication skills.
Location: Must reside in Kano State, with a preference for candidates living in or near Dawakin Kudu.
