Job Description:
We are seeking a proactive and resilient Loan Collection Intern to join our operations team in Ogba. In the financial services sector, the health of a loan portfolio is determined by the effectiveness of its recovery cycle. This role is designed for a "Credit Navigator", a Banking, Finance, or Economics graduate who is eager to master the art of negotiation and the technicalities of debt recovery in a fast-paced environment.
Your mission is to ensure "Portfolio Integrity and Professional Recovery." You will be the primary link between the firm and borrowers: responsible for professional follow-ups, negotiating sustainable repayment plans, and maintaining precise data integrity. If you possess "Interpersonal Grit" and the empathy required to navigate difficult conversations without compromising on results, this internship offers a foundational career path into Credit Risk and Financial Operations.
Requirements:
1. Professional Outreach & Negotiation
Multichannel Follow-up: Assist the collections team by engaging borrowers through phone calls, SMS, and WhatsApp to remind them of overdue obligations.
Repayment Architecture: Negotiate realistic repayment plans with borrowers, balancing the firm's need for recovery with the borrower's current financial capacity.
Compliance Stewardship: Learn and apply industry-standard debt recovery techniques while ensuring every interaction adheres to regulatory compliance and fair-lending practices.
2. Data Integrity & Systems Management
Real-Time Documentation: Update customer records and loan statuses in the system immediately after every interaction to ensure the collections pipeline is accurate.
History Maintenance: Help maintain an audit-ready repayment history for every borrower, ensuring that data is organized and easily accessible for senior management.
Target Alignment: Work efficiently within a fast-paced environment to meet weekly and monthly recovery targets as set by the Lead Collections Officer.
3. Professionalism & Relationship Management
Empathy-Driven Recovery: Approach every borrower with a high level of professionalism and empathy, maintaining the brand’s reputation even during difficult financial discussions.
Conflict Resolution: Learn to handle objections and high-pressure situations with composure, focusing on "win-win" solutions for the borrower and the firm.
Technical Growth: Participate in training sessions regarding credit risk, consumer behavior, and financial regulations governing the Nigerian lending space.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Currently pursuing or a recent graduate in Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
Location: Must be able to work in Ogba, Lagos.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a persuasive edge.
