Job Description:
- The National Sales Manager is responsible for leading the sales and distribution strategy for the company's animal nutrition and feed products. The role drives revenue growth, market expansion, customer acquisition, distributor development, and sales team performance across all regions.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for increasing market penetration, maximizing production capacity utilization through effective demand generation, strengthening distributor networks, improving collections performance, and ensuring sustainable business growth.
- This position requires a highly motivated commercial leader with strong industry knowledge, proven sales management experience, and the ability to deliver results in a competitive market environment.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy and Business Growth:
- Develop and implement national sales strategies to achieve revenue, volume, and profitability targets.
- Drive sales growth across all feed and nutrition product categories.
- Identify and capitalize on new market opportunities and emerging customer segments.
- Expand market share through effective customer acquisition and retention strategies.
- Develop annual, quarterly, and monthly sales plans aligned with business objectives.
- Monitor market trends, pricing activities, and competitor movements.
Market Development and Customer Acquisition:
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of commercial farms, distributors, retailers, integrators, and institutional customers.
- Identify new business opportunities and convert prospects into active customers.
- Strengthen relationships with key accounts to drive long-term business growth.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through proactive engagement and problem resolution.
Distributor Management:
- Develop, manage, and expand distributor and dealer networks nationwide.
- Establish performance targets and growth plans for distributors.
- Conduct regular business reviews with distributors and key partners.
- Ensure adequate product availability and market coverage across assigned territories.
- Support distributors with sales initiatives, product knowledge, and market development activities.
Sales Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop regional and field sales teams.
- Set clear sales targets, KPIs, and performance expectations.
- Monitor field activities and ensure effective territory coverage.
- Conduct regular coaching, performance reviews, and capability-building programs.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, execution, and results.
Credit Control and Collections:
- Ensure compliance with company credit policies and procedures.
- Monitor customer payment performance and outstanding receivables.
- Work closely with Finance and Operations teams to improve collections efficiency.
- Minimize bad debt exposure through effective credit risk management.
- Ensure all sales transactions are properly documented and approved.
Marketing and Brand Visibility:
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to execute promotional campaigns and market activation initiatives.
- Ensure effective deployment of sales and marketing materials across channels.
- Drive product awareness and visibility in key markets and customer locations.
- Support product launches, customer engagement programs, and industry events.
Demand Planning and Inventory Management:
- Provide accurate sales forecasts to support production and inventory planning.
- Monitor stock movement and sales trends across regions.
- Ensure efficient inventory turnover and minimize slow-moving stock.
- Coordinate with Operations and Supply Chain teams to align market demand with production capacity.
Reporting and Performance Management:
- Prepare and submit periodic sales, collections, and market intelligence reports.
- Track and analyze key performance indicators.
- Provide recommendations to improve sales effectiveness and market penetration.
- Maintain accurate customer and sales records.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, Agribusiness, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
- 7 - 10 years of progressive sales experience within the feed, animal nutrition, agribusiness, livestock, FMCG, or related sectors.
- At least 3–5 years in a senior sales leadership role managing multi-regional or national sales operations.
- Proven track record of delivering sales growth, distributor expansion, and commercial performance targets.
