Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Metering Engineer to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and regulatory compliance of all measurement systems within our Oil & Gas assets. You will be the technical authority responsible for minimizing revenue losses due to meter inaccuracies and ensuring that every barrel of oil and cubic meter of gas is measured with precision.
Requirements:
Metering Integrity & Policy: Implement company metering policies and oversee quality management inspections for fiscal and custody transfer metering systems to prevent revenue leakage.
Maintenance & Calibration: Develop maintenance plans and work instructions. Manage periodic calibration and system recertification (prover loops, etc.) in strict accordance with NUPRC/NMDPRA regulations.
Operational Support: Provide specialist technical support for production assets, ensuring accurate volume measurements to support production efficiency and well testing.
Compliance & Audits: Ensure all fiscal, legislative, and allocation metering meets the standards required by contractual obligations and government authorities.
Performance Monitoring: Utilize control charting, availability reporting, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to investigate failures and sustain high meter reliability.
Data & Software Management: Maintain the corporate liquid and gas metering database and ensure secure backups for metering and inspection software.
Vendor Management: Supervise third-party contractors, ensuring technical compliance and HSE standards during all site or workshop activities.
Technical Advancement: Stay current with new measurement technologies, mentor operators, and share best practices across the organization.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: B.Sc. Degree or HND in Instrumentation, Measurement & Control, Mechanical, Electrical, or Petroleum Engineering.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of technical professional experience with significant exposure to the Oil & Gas industry.
Technical Expertise:
Deep familiarity with ISO, API, AGA, NUPRC, and NMDPRA standards.
Extensive knowledge of meter types, calculation methodologies, measurement allocation, and reconciliation processes.
Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal, supervisory, and coordination skills, with the ability to interface effectively with reservoir teams and regulatory bodies.
