Job Description:
We are seeking a high-velocity and structurally elite Innovation & Sustainability Intern to anchor the pilot engine of our cervical cancer elimination efforts in Abuja. In a specialized healthcare landscape where institutional momentum is dictated by the speed of the diagnostic-relay and the precision of the specimen-filter success is defined by "Health Sovereignty" the ability to harmonize HPV testing into existing HIV laboratory workspaces with the clinical precision required for Secondary Prevention, Workflow Integration, and Molecular Infrastructure Resilience. This role is designed for a "Clinical Architect" specifically a graduate in Medical Laboratory Science, Biochemistry, or Pharmacy who can blend "Scientific Grit" (mastering DNA extraction and automated workflows) with the "Strategic Agility" required to execute Stakeholder Coordination and Sustainable Healthcare Strengthening.
Requirements:
1. Orchestration & Laboratory Governance
Sovereignty of the Specimen: Support hands-on training for field staff on standardized cervical sample collection and preservation, acting as the primary "Source of Pre-Analytical Integrity."
Workflow Architecture: Assist in overseeing the laboratory journey from reception through testing and dispatch, providing the "Structural Foundation" for quality-controlled results.
Integrity Stewardship: Support reagent and consumable tracking and coordinate with service teams to minimize equipment downtime, ensuring the "Source of Testing Continuity" is elite and uncompromised.
2. Tactical Resilience & Systemic Logic
Integration Sovereignty: Map and monitor collection/transport workflows to ensure samples maintain temperature and stability requirements, acting as the primary "Source of Logistical Fidelity."
Resilience Architecture: Analyze how existing HIV molecular infrastructure can be leveraged for operational efficiency, providing the "Functional Foundation" for long-term health system resilience.
Documentation Stewardship: Track the pilot journey from testing to intervention and document real-world challenges, maintaining the "Source of Evidence-Based Scale-up."
3. Operational Integrity & Coordination Power
Communication Sovereignty: Align communication between field clinicians, laboratory scientists, and health officials, acting as the primary "Source of Stakeholder Unity."
Analytical Architecture: Utilize Microsoft Excel for result validation, workflow monitoring, and stock reporting, providing the "Relational Foundation" for data-led pilot assessments.
Velocity Logic: Utilize Molecular Laboratory expertise to accelerate the "Clinical-to-Laboratory" cycle, maximizing the "Source of Patient Throughput."
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Enrolled in or completed Bachelor’s studies in Medical Laboratory Science, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Microbiology, or Biological Sciences (within the last 12 months).
Technical Power: Familiarity with DNA extraction, sample accessioning, and automated testing workflows.
Data IQ: Proficient in Microsoft Excel; knowledgeable about specimen handling and biological logistics.
Aptitude: Coachable, detail-oriented, and proactive with strong English communication skills.
Term: Minimum commitment of 3 months for the internship.
