Job Description:

1. Financial Control & Commercial Risk Oversight

• Framework Design: Design and monitor rigorous financial control frameworks to safeguard business assets and ensure data integrity.

• Commercial Risk: Assess risks specifically related to revenue recognition, project costing, margins, and cash flow to protect firm profitability.

• Transaction Review: Evaluate the effectiveness of controls surrounding billing, payments, approvals, and reconciliations, escalating anomalies to the leadership team.

• Audit Readiness: Drive the firm’s audit-readiness and financial assurance processes to ensure seamless external reviews.

2. Enterprise Risk & Compliance

• Risk Register: Maintain and update the Enterprise Risk Register, identifying financial, operational, contractual, and reputational exposures.

• Growth Assessment: Conduct risk evaluations for new market entries, client onboarding, and scaling initiatives.

• Contract Compliance: Review client contracts and third-party agreements to ensure compliance with regulatory, statutory, and internal control requirements.

• Obligation Tracking: Maintain compliance calendars and obligation trackers to ensure no regulatory or contractual deadline is missed.

3. Governance, SOPs & Board Support

• Policy Custodianship: Act as the central custodian of internal policies and governance documentation, ensuring they remain fit-for-purpose as the firm grows.

• SOP Development: Lead the documentation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across Finance, Procurement, HR, and Corporate Approvals.

• Board Coordination: Provide direct support to the Advisory Board, including coordinating meetings, preparing high-level Board papers, and recording resolutions and conflict-of-interest disclosures.

4. Ethics & Accountability

• Integrity Framework: Maintain internal ethics and whistleblowing mechanisms, supporting investigations as required.

• Culture Leadership: Promote a firm-wide culture of financial discipline, integrity, and personal accountability.

Requirements:

• Commercially Minded: Ability to view risk through the lens of business growth and profitability.

• Discretion: Ability to engage confidentially with senior management and Board members.

• Systems-Oriented: A proactive approach to building scalable processes and frameworks.

• Judgment: Sound professional judgment with a high attention to detail.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Professional Certification: ICAN, ACCA, or a recognized Risk/Compliance certification is a significant advantage.

• Experience: 5–7 years of progressive experience in internal controls, audit, risk management, or financial assurance.

• Sector Background: Experience within Consulting, Professional Services, or Advisory firms is highly preferred.

• Financial Acumen: A strong foundational background in finance or accounting is mandatory.
