Job Description:

We are seeking a highly principled and analytical Internal Auditor & Control Lead to provide independent, objective assurance over our risk management and governance frameworks. As a SEC Sponsored Individual, you will be the guardian of the firm's regulatory standing and asset integrity. This role features a unique dual reporting line to the COO and the Board Audit Committee, ensuring the independence necessary to drive high-level impact. You will be responsible for evaluating the strength of our controls across portfolio management, trading, and operations, ensuring we remain beyond reproach in a complex regulatory landscape.

Requirements:

1. Risk-Based Audit Execution & Strategy

• Strategic Planning: Lead the periodic group-wide risk assessment to develop a comprehensive, risk-based annual internal audit plan.

• Audit Execution: Conduct deep-dive audits across high-risk business units, including Trading, Portfolio Management, and Finance, ensuring operational excellence.

• Dual Reporting: Prepare and present objective, high-impact reports to the Board Audit Committee and Senior Management, detailing findings and actionable mitigation plans.

2. Regulatory Governance & SEC Compliance

• SEC Liaison: Act as the primary technical contact for SEC Nigeria regarding internal controls, ensuring the firm maintains its status as a licensed entity in good standing.

• Examination Readiness: Proactively prepare the firm for both routine and surprise regulatory examinations through continuous monitoring and mock audits.

• Adherence: Ensure 100% compliance with SEC rules, IFRS, and the Nigerian financial services legal landscape.

3. Internal Control & Fraud Mitigation

• System Evaluation: Critically assess the adequacy of internal control designs and propose efficiency-driven improvements that do not compromise security.

• Fraud Prevention: Implement and oversee robust anti-fraud systems; lead investigations into suspected irregularities with the highest level of discretion and integrity.

• Follow-up Governance: Rigorously track and validate the implementation of management's corrective actions to ensure identified risks are fully closed.

Qualifications and Skills:

Academic & Professional Standards

• Academic: Minimum of a Second Class Upper Division (2:1) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline from an NUC-accredited university.

• SEC Status: Must be a registered SEC Sponsored Individual (or in the final stages of sponsorship) for Internal Audit/Control.

• Professional: Qualification as ACA, ACCA, CIA, CISA, or CFE is a strong advantage.

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in internal audit or risk management, specifically within an Asset Management, Investment Banking, or Stockbroking firm.
