Job Description:
- We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Import / Shipping Executive to manage and coordinate the company’s importation and shipping processes efficiently.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling import documentation, liaising with banks and regulatory bodies, coordinating with shipping companies and suppliers, and ensuring timely clearance of goods while minimizing import-related costs and operational delays.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and process Form M applications and Letters of Credit (LC) with financial institutions and overseas suppliers.
- Liaise with banks to ensure timely issuance and processing of LC documentation.
- Coordinate with shipping companies, freight forwarders, customs agents, and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth shipment operations.
- Process SONCAP certificates, permits, PAAR, and other import-related documentation through the National Single Window Portal.
- Monitor and track shipments from origin to final clearance and delivery.
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian import regulations, customs procedures, and shipping policies.
- Reduce and eliminate import-related costs such as port detention, demurrage, shipment losses, and cargo damages.
- Prepare, review, and maintain accurate shipping and import documentation including Bills of Lading, invoices, and customs documentation.
- Follow up on shipment schedules, customs clearance, and delivery timelines to avoid delays.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, banks, clearing agents, and logistics partners.
- Provide regular reports and updates on shipment status, documentation, and operational challenges.
Requirements:
- HND / B.Sc Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or any related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in importation, shipping, logistics, or trade operations.
- Strong knowledge of Form M, PAAR, SONCAP, Letters of Credit (LC), and Nigerian customs procedures.
- Hands-on experience using the National Single Window Portal.
- Good understanding of shipping documentation and import compliance processes.
- Strong negotiation, coordination, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and reporting tools.
Salary
