Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Import & Export Supervisor to lead our international trade operations in Lagos. The successful candidate will oversee the end-to-end logistics lifecycle, ensuring that all air, sea, and land shipments are processed with high efficiency and 100% regulatory compliance.
You will serve as the primary liaison between freight forwarders, customs authorities, and internal stakeholders to minimize lead times and optimize logistics costs.
Requirements:
International Trade & Shipment Management
Oversee end-to-end import and export operations across all modes of transport (Air, Sea, and Land).
Coordinate directly with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and airlines to secure timely movement of goods.
Track shipments in real-time, providing proactive status updates to customers and management.
Resolve logistics bottlenecks, including shipment delays and customs-related discrepancies.
Documentation & Customs Compliance
Prepare and audit critical shipping documents, including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Bills of Lading (BoL), Certificates of Origin, and Customs Declarations.
Ensure strict adherence to local (Nigeria Customs Service) and international trade laws and regulations.
Calculate customs duties, taxes, and total landed costs with high accuracy to ensure budget compliance.
Lead communication with customs brokers and authorities for physical inspections and seamless clearance.
Reporting & Internal Audit
Maintain meticulous digital and physical records of all import/export transactions.
Support internal audits and trade compliance checks to ensure zero-risk operations.
Analyze logistics costs and service provider performance to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field.
Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in Global Logistics or Import/Export Coordination, specifically within the Nigerian market.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of Incoterms 2020, Harmonized System (HS) Codes, and Nigerian import guidelines (Form M, PAAR, etc.).
Communication: Strong negotiation skills and the ability to liaise effectively with government agencies and vendors.
Tools: Proficiency in ERP systems and logistics tracking software.
