Jaza is a solar energy start-up working to power Sub-Saharan Africa. We build solar-powered shops which charge batteries customers use to power their homes. In 2022, we achieved over 1.5 million battery swaps, providing approximately 186,000 people access to clean, affordable energy. We employ women from each community (known as Jaza Stars) to run the service, empowering our team to become leaders, entrepreneurs and drivers of economic growth within their communities. We’ve already successfully entered the Nigerian market, piloted several sites here and will grow to hundreds of locations over the next year. To support this expansion, we’re planning to hire over 200 people over the next 6 months
Job Description:
We are seeking an entrepreneurial and results-driven Junior Hub Manager to lead the front-line launch of our new Hubs and drive them toward sustainable profitability. In this role, you will be the second layer of leadership, responsible for managing a cohort of "Jaza Stars" (Hub Operators) and enforcing operational excellence across all retail points. You will blend hands-on sales including door-to-door acquisition with high-level coaching to ensure our energy solutions reach the heart of the community.
The ideal candidate is a mission-aligned leader who is passionate about increasing energy access and providing employment opportunities for women, while maintaining a rigorous focus on revenue and inventory metrics.
Requirements:
Growth & Revenue Management
Customer Acquisition: Lead door-to-door sales initiatives alongside Jaza Stars to achieve an average of 130 active customers per Hub.
Retention & Membership: Proactively follow up with churned customers and drive the transition from "pay-per-swap" to membership models to achieve a target of 1M monthly recurring revenue and >$2.8 ARPU.
Profitability: Own the financial health of the Hub cohort, balancing revenue emittance and driving strategies to overcome growth barriers.
Team Leadership & Coaching
Recruitment & Onboarding: Manage the full talent lifecycle for Jaza Stars, from advertisement and interviews to comprehensive technical training.
Sales Mentorship: Sharpen team sales pitches, remove customer barriers, and lead by example in closing registrations and sign-ups.
Service Excellence: Coach teams on professional customer education, appropriate tone, and timely complaint resolution.
Operational Compliance & Inventory
Asset Protection: Ensure 100% compliance with lost and missing pack metrics; manage the rotation and scanning of inventory.
Technical Oversight: Train teams on identifying tampered or defective packs and following strict "Pack In/Pack Out" SOPs.
Reporting: Attend hyper-care meetings to provide clear action plans, progress feedback, and flag dilemmas to the Regional Coordinator.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Experience
Degree: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Sales, Administration, Marketing, or a related discipline.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Sales, Customer Relations, or Entrepreneurship.
Leadership: Proven experience in leading, managing, or training a team is essential.
Must-Have Skills
Sales Management: Expertise in both customer acquisition and long-term retention strategies.
Analytical Thinking: Data-driven mindset with the ability to make decisions based on Hub performance metrics.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and community members.
Salary
