Job Description:
The HSE Advisor / Specialist provides Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) support for capital projects, drilling activities, and operational risk areas. The role ensures the effective implementation of Level 1 and Level 2 HSE Management Systems, Integrated Safe Systems of Work (ISSoW), and risk control measures at the tactical and frontline levels, promoting zero-harm, safe construction, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct proactive HSE surveillance, identifying unsafe acts or conditions and intervening to ensure positive behavioral safety changes
Support the implementation and integration of Safe Systems of Work, including Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Toolbox Talks (TBT), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (CSE), Unsafe Acts Auditing (HSEW), and Permit-to-Work Systems (PSFO) at operational and project sites
Apply HSE tools and techniques to consistently manage personnel safety risks to As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP), preventing harm to employees and contractors
Implement behavioral safety initiatives, including dynamic risk assessments, pause-for-safety exercises, and TBT sessions to improve the overall safety culture among frontline personnel
Provide HSE oversight during project execution, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory safety standards
Support hazard identification awareness campaigns and strategies to entrench a robust HSE culture within the facility
Conduct incident investigations, preserving evidence and preparing preliminary investigation reports within acceptable timeframes
Perform any other HSE duties as assigned by management
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Number of preventative reports raised and followed through to completion in assigned areas
Percentage reduction in Total Recordable Case Frequency (TRCF) in assigned areas
Hours worked in assigned areas without recordable incidents
Number of HSE non-compliance incidents recorded in assigned work areas
Number of HSE incident investigations triggered, supported, and reported in a timely manner
Requirements:
Familiarity with HSE Management Systems and knowledge of industry best practices in safety, health, security, and environmental management
Experience in construction safety, project safety oversight, and risk management
Relevant training or certifications that enhance the ability to implement HSE standards and risk control measures
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders at all organizational levels
Committed to promoting a strong HSE culture and ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards
Qualifications and Skills:
Minimum of First Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering, Sciences, Social Sciences, or Arts
Professional qualification in Safety (NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) is an added advantage
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in HSSE / HSE roles, preferably in oil & gas, construction, or capital projects
