Job Description:

We are seeking a highly qualified and technically sound Banking Operations Officer to oversee core financial processes within our institution. This role is designed for a professional who combines a deep understanding of commercial or microfinance banking with the regulatory rigor required by the CIBN and NDIC. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of banking transactions, maintaining compliance with internal controls, and leveraging modern banking software to optimize service delivery. This position offers a strategic path for a chartered professional looking to lead in a reputable financial environment.

Requirements:

1. Core Banking Operations & Controls

• Transaction Oversight: Supervise daily banking operations, including fund transfers, clearing, and account reconciliations, ensuring zero tolerance for errors.

• Software Integration: Utilize modern banking software packages to manage customer data, loan processing, and financial reporting with high digital proficiency.

• Risk Management: Implement and monitor internal control frameworks to mitigate operational risks and ensure the safety of depositors' funds.

2. Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all activities comply with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) guidelines and Microfinance Banking regulations.

• Accountancy Excellence: Leverage accounting principles to oversee ledger maintenance and financial statement preparation (Candidates with ICAN will lead in this area).

• Audit Readiness: Maintain impeccable records and documentation to ensure the branch/unit is always prepared for internal and statutory audits.

3. Strategic Client & Team Leadership

• Relationship Management: Provide high-level support for complex banking enquiries, maintaining the institution's reputation for excellence.

• Mentorship: Act as a technical resource for junior staff, ensuring the team stays updated on modern banking trends and software updates.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education & Professional Certification

• Academic Background: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (Second Class Upper preferred) in Accountancy, Banking & Finance, or Economics.

• Mandatory Certifications: Must possess both Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) and Microfinance Chartered Institute of Bankers (MCIB) certificates.

• Competitive Advantage: Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) is highly desirable.

Experience & Skills

• Proven Tenure: Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in a Commercial bank or a highly reputable Microfinance bank at the Officer level.

• Tech Literacy: Must be highly computer literate with hands-on experience in modern Core Banking Applications (CBA).

• Analytical Mindset: Strong grasp of financial analysis, credit principles, and microfinance operational dynamics.
