Job Description:
We are seeking a high-caliber, visionary leader to serve as the Head of the Dedicated Banking Team. This is a strategic role designed to drive exponential growth in the bank’s deposit liabilities and risk asset portfolios. You will be responsible for mobilizing funding through a diverse product suite and generating high-quality revenue streams, ensuring the department remains a core engine for the bank’s financial success.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned banking professional with a proven track record in relationship management, particularly within the Retail, SME, and Public Sectors, and possesses the leadership grit to mentor a high-performance team to surpass aggressive budgetary targets.
Requirements:
Strategic Leadership & Performance Drive
Growth Execution: Drive the department’s market share in the Retail and SME segments, consistently meeting and surpassing targets for Deposit Liabilities, Risk Assets, and Profit After Tax (PAT).
Strategic Direction: Provide overall guidance and business leadership, ensuring all departmental activities align with the Bank’s long-term business objectives.
Expansion: Identify and coordinate the development of new marketing plans and locations/outlets to expand the bank’s physical and digital footprint.
Business Development & Relationship Management
Asset Creation: Appraise and monitor the disbursement of quality risk assets, ensuring a healthy balance sheet and strict adherence to credit policies.
Niche Management: Manage high-value relationships, including key religious bodies and public sector entities, through rigorous call programs and frequent engagement.
Portfolio Health: Enforce a "zero tolerance" policy for inactive or dormant accounts, ensuring a dynamic and profitable customer mix.
Sales Support: Lead from the front by conducting joint marketing calls with team members to deepen client relationships and bridge knowledge gaps in the field.
Team Management & Operational Excellence
Talent Development: Identify, recruit, and mentor qualified candidates. Schedule periodic training to close competence gaps and ensure staff are equipped for high performance.
Culture Building: Foster a team culture centered on value creation, exceptional customer service, and shared accountability.
Cost Control: Manage the department’s operating expenses to ensure they remain within the approved annual budget.
Standard Setting: Maintain and enforce a high standard of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) across all touchpoints in the department.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline. A Postgraduate degree (MBA/M.Sc.) or professional certification (e.g., ACCA, ICAN, CIBN) is highly advantageous.
Experience: * Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Corporate/Commercial Banking, OR 15 years of total banking experience.
At least 6 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Hands-on experience in Credit Analysis, Sales, and Relationship Management at a managerial level.
Experience in the Public Sector is an added advantage.
