Job Description:

A reputable Microfinance Bank in Ekiti State is seeking a highly analytical and experienced Head, Audit and Risk Management (HARM) to provide independent assurance and strategic oversight. Reporting functionally to the Board and administratively to the CEO, you will be responsible for safeguarding the bank’s assets, ensuring operational integrity, and maintaining strict regulatory compliance. This is a senior management position for a professional who thrives on objectivity, integrity, and proactive risk mitigation.

Requirements:

• Audit Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement a risk-based annual audit plan to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and accounting systems.

• Risk Management Framework: Systematically identify, assess, and mitigate operational, credit, liquidity, and strategic risks across all departments and branches.

• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure absolute adherence to CBN guidelines, NDIC regulations, and all relevant statutory frameworks for Microfinance Banks (MFBs).

• Control & Investigation: Review credit disbursement procedures and financial transactions to detect/prevent fraud and waste. Conduct special investigations into policy breaches and recommend corrective measures.

• Executive Reporting: Prepare and present objective reports on audit findings, risk exposures, and compliance status to the Board Audit Committee and Executive Management.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• Experience: 5–8 years of experience in the financial services industry, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role within Internal Audit, Risk, or Compliance (MFB or Commercial Bank).

• Mandatory Qualifications: Professional certification such as ACA (ICAN), ACCA, or CIA is required in alignment with CBN fit and proper guidelines.

  • Advantage: ACIB or completion/enrollment in the Microfinance Certification Programme (MCP).
