We are seeking a high-caliber Financial Controller to serve as a cornerstone of our strategic expansion. Based in the heart of Lagos’s tech hub, Yaba, you will operate at the Senior Manager level, reporting directly to the CFO, Nigeria. This is a mandate for a battle-tested financial leader who can harmonize multi-jurisdictional reporting with a robust, "digital-first" control environment.
As we scale across Africa and into international markets (including the US), you will own the integrity of our financial data. You will be responsible for everything from IFRS consolidation and FX hedging to the optimization of our NetSuite ERP. Requirements:
1. Group Financial Reporting & Multi-Currency Consolidation
IFRS Mastery: Lead the preparation of complex consolidated financial statements under IFRS and local GAAPs, ensuring seamless monthly and annual closes.
Global Synchronization: Orchestrate intercompany reconciliations, eliminations, and FX accounting for multi-currency operations, managing unrealized/realized gains with precision.
Treasury Synergy: Collaborate with Treasury to optimize working capital, cash positioning, and FX liquidity strategies across diverse markets.
2. Governance, Risk & Internal Controls
Control Architecture: Design and maintain a "SOX-lite" internal control environment, ensuring fraud risk management is embedded in our operational DNA.
Technical Compliance: Direct accurate revenue recognition and provisioning policies tailored to high-volume fintech transactions.
Tax & Audit Leadership: Manage global relationships with external auditors and ensure 100% compliance with transfer pricing and statutory tax filings in Nigeria and the US.
3. Systems Optimization & Strategic Insights
Digital Transformation: Lead the optimization of NetSuite ERP and automated reporting workflows to standardize financial operations across all subsidiaries.
Board-Level Reporting: Translate complex financial data into strategic insights for the CFO and Board of Directors, supporting capital raises and M&A initiatives.
Market Expansion: Provide financial risk assessments for new market entries, ensuring regulatory readiness for Central Bank audits.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s/MBA is a plus.
Certification: Mandatory Professional Accounting Certification (ACA, ACCA, or CPA).
Experience: 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a Controller or leadership role.
Sector IQ: Direct experience in Fintech, Banking, or regulated Financial Services is highly preferred.
Service: Must have completed the mandatory NYSC.
Technical & Behavioral IQ
Systems Mastery: Deep proficiency in NetSuite, Power BI, and advanced financial modeling in Excel.
Cross-Border Expertise: Proven ability to manage multi-entity operations and complex FX accounting.
Leadership Grit: A strategic thinker with high integrity, capable of leading cross-functional teams under pressure.
