Job Description:
INTERSOS is seeking a skilled Field Logistics & Supply Officer to oversee the logistical integrity of our base and project activities in Zamfara. You will be responsible for ensuring that all materials, infrastructure, and vehicle fleets are optimized for humanitarian delivery while strictly adhering to INTERSOS standards and donor protocols. This role is essential for maintaining the operational "backbone" of our field presence, ensuring our teams have the resources they need to succeed in a challenging, high-impact environment.
Requirements:
Logistics Information Management: Lead the implementation and accurate data entry of INTERSOS logistics software (IMP/IMS). Provide training to staff to ensure mission-wide compliance.
Supply Chain & Procurement: Plan and supervise base supply activities, execute local purchases (RFQ/Direct Purchase), negotiate with local suppliers, and maintain the pre-qualified supplier list. Ensure all procurement is fully documented and archived in accordance with INTERSOS and donor transparency requirements.
Stock & Warehouse Management: Take full responsibility for the warehouse and its contents (medical and non-medical). Implement rigorous procedures to prevent stock ruptures, losses (damages/expiry), and cold chain breaches.
Facilities & IT Infrastructure: Maintain functional office/guesthouse standards, ensure robust IT/communications infrastructure, and provide training to staff on the use of field communication tools (SAT phones, HF/VHF radios).
Fleet & Asset Management: Ensure fleet maintenance, insurance, and tax compliance. Monitor fuel consumption, maintain vehicle/generator logbooks, and conduct quarterly fixed asset audits.
Security & Risk Mitigation: Serve as a technical focal point for security, monitoring project risks and ensuring that transport and communication protocols are strictly followed.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Tertiary education and formal technical training in a relevant field.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, ideally within an NGO environment.
Technical Literacy: Essential computer literacy (MS Office, Internet). Working knowledge of radio equipment is required.
