Job Description:

• We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Fiber Installation Support Technician to join our team.
• The ideal candidate will assist our Fiber teams in executing fiber optic cable installations, ensuring efficient and high-quality work.
• This role involves supporting field operations, performing various tasks, and collaborating with the team to accelerate project timelines and minimize downtime.
• The ideal candidate must be reachable and available to work on Saturdays and Sundays

Key Responsibilities

• Cable Installation: Assist in running fiber optic cables through ducts, conduits, and other pathways.
• HDPE Duct Laying: Lay and manage High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) ducts for fiber optic cable protection and organization.
• Interlock Removal: Safely remove interlocks and other obstacles to facilitate smooth cable installation.
• Thrust Boring: Perform thrust boring tasks to create pathways for fiber optic cables under roads, pathways, or other obstacles.
• Field Support: Provide general support to the Fiber team during installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
• Collaboration: Work effectively with other technicians, engineers, and project managers to ensure projects are completed on time and to specification.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including cable routes, duct layouts, and any issues encountered.

Requirements:

• Education: Diploma or Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines).
• Experience: Prior experience in fiber optic cable installation, telecommunications, or a similar field is preferred.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications in fiber optics or telecommunications are a plus.

Skills:

• Knowledge of fiber optic cables and installation techniques.
• Ability to work in various environments, including outdoor and confined spaces.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects, work at heights, and endure varying weather conditions.
