We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Description:

  • The Deputy Head HSE will assist the Head of Health, Safety, and Environment in implementing and maintaining the Health and Safety Management System across Dangote Cement’s Transport.
  • The role involves leading HSE audits, conducting risk assessments, promoting a culture of safety, and ensuring compliance with national and international HSE regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of HSE policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Conduct regular HSE audits and inspections to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with management and employees to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Lead HSE training initiatives to ensure all employees are well-informed and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HSE legislation and best practices.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, providing recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present HSE performance reports to management.
  • Serve as a point of contact for external audits and inspections.
  • Assist with the development of emergency response plans and conduct drills

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree or relevant postgraduate certification (e.g., NEBOSH,) is an added advantage.
  • Membership in recognized professional HSE bodies (e.g., IOSH, ISPON, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive HSE experience, with at least 2–3 years in a managerial or senior supervisory role.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance, risk management, and incident investigation in high-risk operations.
  • Strong knowledge of national and international HSE regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Competence in hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety audits.
  • Excellent leadership, people management, and team coordination abilities.
  • Ability to influence operational teams and senior stakeholders on HSE matters.
