Job Description:

  • The Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that the organisation operates in full compliance with regulatory, statutory, and contractual requirements governing care services and recruitment operations.
  • The role involves conducting internal and external audits, monitoring compliance status daily, verifying staff documentation, and working closely with HR, operations, and other departments to mitigate compliance risks.
  • The Compliance Officer plays a critical role in safeguarding the organisation’s licence to operate and maintaining high standards of governance and care delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities
Compliance Monitoring & Risk Management:

  • Evaluate business activities, contracts, and operational practices to assess compliance risks across the organisation.
  • Conduct daily checks on the organisation’s compliance status and flag gaps or risks promptly.
  • Develop, implement, and manage a monthly compliance audit plan covering all regulatory requirements.
  • Provide regular compliance status reports to management, highlighting risks, corrective actions, and progress.

Audit & Regulatory Oversight:

  • Conduct internal compliance audits across all business units, care homes, and operational locations.
  • Coordinate and support external audits, inspections, and regulatory visits.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations relating to licence to operate, Right to Work (RTW), DBS checks, staff certifications, and sector-specific requirements.

Staff Documentation & Verification:

  • Verify and sign off on all new staff compliance documentation prior to deployment, including but not limited to:
    • Right to Work (RTW)
    • DBS checks
    • National Insurance (NI)
    • Bank details
    • Proof of address
    • Professional certifications and training records
  • Work closely with HR and recruitment teams to verify staff compliance status before placement on shifts.

Document Control & Renewals:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all official and statutory documents.
  • Track expiry dates for licences, certifications, DBS, RTW, and other regulatory documents.
  • Ensure timely renewals and escalate risks where renewals are delayed or non-compliant.

Policy & Process Improvement:

  • Support the development, review, and implementation of compliance policies and procedures.
  • Recommend improvements to compliance processes to strengthen controls and reduce risk exposure.
  • Stay informed of regulatory changes affecting care services and recruitment and ensure timely implementation.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of care sector regulations, employment compliance, RTW, DBS, and licensing requirements.
  • Experience conducting internal and external audits.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Audit, Compliance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • ICAN, CIA, and ACCA is an added advantage.
  • Proven experience in a compliance role within a care, healthcare, or recruitment agency.
