Job Description:
- The Compliance Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the company’s compliance programs.
- You will act as a watchdog, ensuring that JMG Limited remains up-to-date with the ever-changing legal landscape in Nigeria and other operational jurisdictions. You will work closely with the Legal and HR departments to mitigate risk and foster a culture of integrity.
Minimum Requirements
- Monitor and interpret changes in legislation, regulations, and case law affecting JMG Limited’s diverse business units (manufacturing standards, import/export controls, labor laws, tax regulations).
- Ensure timely renewal of all statutory licenses, permits, and registrations with relevant regulatory bodies (e.g., NAFDAC, SON, FIRS, NITDA, and State Ministries).
- Conduct regular compliance audits to identify potential areas of vulnerability and risk.
- Draft, review, and update internal policies (Code of Conduct, Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Data Privacy, Whistleblower Policy) to reflect current legal standards.
- Develop and deliver engaging compliance training programs for employees to raise awareness on issues like anti-corruption, data protection policy, and conflict of interest.
- Support the investigation of suspected violations of company policy or law.
- Prepare and present compliance reports to senior management and the board of directors.
- Manage relationships with external regulators during inspections or inquiries.
- Review contracts and third-party agreements to ensure they contain necessary compliance clauses (e.g., data protection, anti-bribery representations) and do not expose the company to regulatory penalties.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Laws LL. B Degree from a recognized university.
- Call to the Bar (B.L) is required.
- Minimum of 2–4 years of post-qualification experience, with at least 2 years specifically in a compliance role, preferably within a manufacturing, trading, or FMCG environment.
- Deep understanding of Nigerian regulatory frameworks, particularly those governing importation, manufacturing standards, and labor.
