This is a "boots-on-the-ground" engineering role designed for a professional who is as comfortable in AutoCAD as they are supervising asphalt laying on-site.
You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of road infrastructure—from interpreting complex engineering drawings to managing earthworks, drainage systems, and pavement structures. If you possess 5+ years of hands-on experience and a relentless focus on material quality and project timelines, we want you to build the future of Nigerian infrastructure with us.
Requirements:
1. Site Engineering & Execution Oversight
End-to-End Supervision: Plan and execute road projects from site clearing to final asphalt surfacing, ensuring every layer meets design specifications.
Structural Works: Oversee the construction of culverts, intricate drainage systems, and heavy pavement structures to ensure long-term durability.
Earthworks Management: Direct soil stabilization, grading, and compaction activities, ensuring the sub-base and base layers are engineered to standard.
2. Technical Design & Material Quality Control
CAD Proficiency: Use AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D to read, modify, and produce high-precision engineering drawings and site layouts.
Material Integrity: Conduct rigorous quality control on construction materials including asphalt, bitumen, aggregates, and concrete, ensuring compliance with testing standards.
Quantity Surveying: Support project planning through accurate quantity take-offs and the preparation of Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
3. Project Management & Site Reporting
Operational Coordination: Synchronize the activities of surveyors, contractors, and labor crews to maintain project momentum.
Performance Documentation: Prepare daily and weekly site progress reports, material usage logs, and technical documentation for executive review.
Safety & Standards: Enforce strict adherence to engineering standards and safety regulations, proactively resolving technical challenges as they arise on-site.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of verifiable practical experience in road construction projects.
Technical Mastery: Deep hands-on knowledge of asphalt works, culverts, and pavement layers.
Software: High proficiency in AutoCAD/Autodesk suite and project measurement tools.
Mobility: Must be willing to travel or relocate to project sites in Kano, Adamawa, and other Northern Nigerian states.
Core Competencies
Material Science: Sound knowledge of road construction materials and standard testing methods (CBR, compaction tests, etc.).
Leadership: Strong ability to manage large on-site teams and subcontractors under pressure.
Problem Solving: A "find-a-way" mindset for resolving site-based technical bottlenecks.
