Job Description:
We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Business Development Executive to support our growth within the architecture and engineering consultancy space. Working directly with the Business Development Manager, you will be a key player in the end-to-end bid management process from identifying high-value opportunities in newspapers and online portals to the successful submission of complex technical proposals. The ideal candidate is an engineer by training with a proven track record in project acquisition and a deep understanding of the procurement requirements for both government bodies and international funding agencies.
Requirements:
Proposal & Tender Management
Submission Leadership: Prepare and submit professional tender documents for RFPs (Request for Proposals) and EOIs (Expressions of Interest).
Data Synthesis: Collaborate with technical specialists and project managers to gather the financial and technical data required for comprehensive bid submissions.
Compliance & Analysis: Evaluate tender specifications to highlight critical areas for attention, ensuring 100% compliance with client requirements and industry standards.
Business Growth & Lead Generation
Market Research: Conduct daily research to identify new business opportunities and engage with the executive team to develop pursuit strategies.
Relationship Management: Establish and nurture relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders to build a sustainable lead pipeline.
Partnerships: Identify and vet potential associates for collaboration and joint venture opportunities.
Closing & Follow-up: Track the status of active proposals and support the closing of deals, ensuring contracts align with company profitability goals.
Contract Management & Compliance
Negotiation Support: Assist in the review and execution of contracts to ensure alignment with company objectives.
Regulatory Maintenance: Support the renewal of vital company licenses and staff professional certifications.
Finance Liaison: Coordinate with the Finance department to ensure the recovery of outstanding payments and adherence to financial terms.
Administrative & Reporting Support
Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous records of all bid statuses, timelines, and win/loss outcomes.
Activity Reporting: Prepare summaries of business development activities, including ongoing projects and future opportunity tracking.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Experience: Minimum of 4 years in business development and client relationship management, specifically within Architecture or Engineering Consultancy.
Bid Expertise: Extensive experience in preparing winning proposals for both small and large-scale infrastructure projects.
Project Acquisition: Proven track record in securing large-scale public and private sector projects. Experience with International Funding Agencies (e.g., World Bank, AfDB, IsDB) is a major plus.
Certification: Membership with professional bodies such as COREN, COMEG, or CORBON is highly advantageous.
