Job Description:

We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Accountant to join our growing renewable energy team in Abuja. This role is ideal for a financial professional who enjoys the dynamics of project-based accounting and is looking for the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. You will be responsible for the integrity of our financial records, ensuring statutory compliance, and providing the analytical support necessary to maintain project profitability.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with a strong grasp of Nigerian tax laws and the ability to manage complex financial documentation across multiple renewable energy projects.

Requirements:

Financial Reporting & Record Keeping

• Ledger Management: Maintain accurate, real-time financial records for all company transactions, ensuring the general ledger is consistently up to date.

• Reporting: Prepare comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to provide management with clear visibility into the company’s fiscal health.

• Documentation: Oversee the systematic filing and documentation of all financial transactions to ensure audit readiness at all times.

Project & Operational Accounting

• Budget Monitoring: Track project-specific budgets and costs, analyzing variances to ensure overall project profitability.

• Receivables & Payables: Manage the end-to-end accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoicing and proactive follow-ups with clients and contractors.

• Asset Management: Assist in the tracking and management of company assets, ensuring accurate depreciation and location records.

Compliance & Strategic Support

• Statutory Remittance: Ensure the timely and accurate remittance of all statutory deductions, including PAYE, VAT, and Pensions, in accordance with Nigerian regulations.

• Audit Support: Act as the primary liaison for external auditors, providing necessary documentation and support to ensure smooth audit cycles.

• Forecasting: Support leadership with strategic financial planning, including budgeting and cash flow forecasting to support future growth.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Experience:

  • 2–3 years in a core accounting role.

  • Added Advantage: Direct experience in a project-based environment (e.g., Construction, Energy, or Engineering).

• Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard Accounting Software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero).

  • Solid understanding of Nigerian tax laws and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

• Professional Certification: ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent certification is a significant added advantage.
