Job Description:
Are you a seasoned geologist looking to leverage your expertise in a high-impact drilling environment? We are seeking an Operations / Wellsite Geologist III to provide mission-critical geological support for our drilling operations in Port Harcourt. You will be responsible for real-time wellbore placement optimization, comprehensive geological data integration, and the seamless coordination of wellsite services. This role is ideal for a collaborative professional eager to mentor junior staff while contributing to complex field development plans.
Requirements:
Operational Supervision: Lead all wellsite geological personnel, including mudlogging, LWD (Logging While Drilling), wireline services, and core handling/processing. Ensure rigorous quality assurance for all data acquisition.
Data Integration & Reporting: Deliver optimized horizontal wellbore placement, final well reports, updated cross-sections, and formation evaluation logs.
Project Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for third-party geological service vendors, manage pre-drill planning, and coordinate the dissemination of vital data to internal stakeholders.
Pressure Surveillance: Proactively monitor abnormal pressure parameters, maintaining accurate evaluation logs and collaborating with drilling supervisors to ensure operational safety.
Post-Drill Execution: Manage the systematic shipment of samples, logs, and reports while spearheading ad-hoc geological projects.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: BS/MS in Geology from a recognized institution.
Core Experience: Proven experience as a Wellsite Geologist, specifically within offshore environments, platform/deviated well drilling, and integrated asset teams.
Technical Proficiency:
Expertise in mud logging, cuttings descriptions, and real-time image log interpretation.
Strong knowledge of directional drilling, well planning, BHA (Bottom Hole Assembly), and depth control.
Experience in structural geology (compartmentalization/communication assessment) and 3D geologic modeling.
Compliance & Safety: Must be in excellent physical condition. Mandatory: Current certifications (within the last 2 years) for OPITO-recognized Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET), Sea Survival, and H₂S.
Soft Skills: Fluent in written and spoken English with exceptional organizational and coordination skills.
