Job Description:

  • The Maintenance Manager will oversee the maintenance operations of the factory to ensure optimal performance of all machinery, equipment, and infrastructure.
  • The role involves managing a team of technicians and support staff, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and implementing proactive and reactive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee preventive maintenance schedules for all machinery and equipment.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnosing issues, and coordinating quick repairs to minimize production downtime.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
  • Supervise and lead the maintenance team, including training, and evaluating team members.
  • Assign tasks and ensure proper delegation to achieve maintenance goals effectively.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and analyse equipment performance to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Coordinate with production managers to prioritize maintenance tasks based on production schedules and needs.
  • Ensure spare parts inventory is maintained at optimal levels to avoid production disruptions.
  • Enforce adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations within the maintenance department.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and equipment inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, government regulations, and company policies.
  • Prepare and manage the maintenance department’s budget, including costs for repairs, spare parts, and labour.
  • Evaluate and approve purchase requests for equipment and maintenance supplies.
  • Seek cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or safety.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in maintenance management, preferably in a plastic manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of plastic processing machinery (e.g., injection molding, extrusion) and auxiliary equipment.
  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is an advantage.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulatory requirements in manufacturing.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
